Seed bank project

Tiotio Puha
Heirloom seeds are becoming more and more rare. Around the world there is a realization amongst many concerned people that these seeds are in danger of being lost while commercial seed is being modified so that the plants do not produce seed for future crops. The world at the moment is at a tipping point of either great human achievement or massive ecological disaster.  If these seeds are lost this will be the end of food sovereignty and will take away the god given right for human beings to feed themselves. The other danger is that this will create an ecological catastrophe that will endanger the human race. Due to these concerns Reka trustees have decided to gather and collect heirloom seeds for safe keeping to help ensure that at least some of these seeds have a safe home from corporations privatizing our food producing sovereignty. We are actively growing some of these precious plants as well as asking anyone who has any to donate to this seed saving project. Many gardeners are now on the look out for these seeds to hedge their bets against the genetic modification strategies of corporations. In England and America the demand for heirloom seeds is growing as the effects of these " terminator " seeds are having a detrimental effect on our ecosystems. It would be much appreciated if you would like to donate a few of your heirloom seed for safe keeping so that they can be passed to future generations. To anyone who donates seed Reka trust will in return trade seeds that you as a contributor do not have.
